Hwarang Youth Foundation Hosts a Benefit Concert to Fundraise for Medical Missions

Based in Los Angeles, California, Hwarang Youth Foundation (founded by Howard Park) has hosted its 9th Annual Vision Concert and raised 32,000 dollars.

Hwarang Youth Foundation President (Sarah Park) and Student Leader (Julian Kim) organized this concert. Over 18 chapters have gathered to fundraise for the medical mission trips providing cataract surgeries in South America.

The Northern California Silicon Valley District chapters have also hosted their own Vision Festival on March 7th to help raise funds as well.

In June, a medical mission team plans to head out to provide the much needed medical procedures. The student volunteers are also planning to take coding supplies to teach coding to students in South America.

Three Korean Chapters are similarly fundraising to provide services for Nepal, Philippines, and Cambodia.

Performers of the Vision Concert include a traditional Korean drum team "Sound of Hwarang" who have joined with an AI robot drum team, "BeOne" jazz dance group, hiphop group "PENIKE," Allison Son (solo violinist), Sua and Sunna (Guitar duet), Healers chapter (ensemble), Isaac Sung (solo clarinet), "Rebound" dance team, and Temecula Chapter (ensemble).

Student President Julian Kim states, "I am proud that our members are exhibiting the Five Loves of Hwarang, specifically Love of Neighbor. I hope that we mature as Koreans who take pride in our culture."
