Hwarang Youth Foundation Students Partake in Coming-of-Age Ceremony
Hwarang Youth Foundation (Founder Howard Park) and Korean Spirit Revival Movement (Director Young-Mi Lee) have hosted a traditional Coming-of-Age ceremony this past 25th in Buena Park.
30 Hwarang students who have come of age dressed traditionally and performed the sam-ga-rye and soo-hoon-rye, following traditional rituals.
The traditional Coming-of-Age ceremony celebrates the maturing of a Korean man or woman, making them whole upon completion of the rituals.
Founder Park mentions, "Our students who've become adults are a representation of our culture's beauty and grace. I hope that our members and their parents will love their country even more."
The ceremony had both female and male students who dressed in their appropriate traditional wear and bowed to their parents, thanking them.
