Affirmative Action and College Guidance Seminar

This seminar discussed the dissolution of affirmative action, a key element of the U.S. college entrance process. In order to discover more about these changes, an A1 representative delivered a presentation and answered questions about affirmative action and college applications as a whole to students and parents alike. This seminar helped guide all listeners to understand the direction one should take to their activities and essays in order to get ahead in the college admissions process. The speaker also talked about admissions trends and how to stand out as a student to admissions officers. Since the Hwarang Youth Foundation is a Korean-American group, the seminar was directed towards an Asian audience. The speaker mentioned important statistics such as the demographics of college acceptances and how affirmative action will affect members of the Hwarang Youth Foundation as Asian students. This seminar also highlighted skills that colleges are looking for. Top universities want students who are focused, unique, and passionate. Additionally, students’ essays are important as they need to be able to present such qualities in the applicant. The Affirmative Action and College Guidance Seminar was a very rewarding talk full of deep insight and scintillating information.
