Boise Chapter

Hwarang Youth Foundation

We are the Boise Chapter, a group of high school students based in southwestern Idaho, founded in 2024. We are committed to addressing human rights issues and reducing educational inequality by creating opportunities for refugees and underserved communities while growing as globally minded leaders.

Our work centers on education, providing mentoring and workshops for refugee students in Ukraine, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Alongside teaching, we support learning environments by funding essential data access. We also organize fundraising efforts, raising money for a refugee school in Malaysia and for emergency aid in Ukraine, and developing an Offline Digital Library for refugee schools.

Within the Boise community, we contribute through refugee support events, hygiene drives, food bank volunteering, and environmental clean-up projects. In addition, our members dedicate their time to handcraft baby hats, which we donate to hospitals to support newborns in need. Through these efforts, we continue to build leadership, collaboration, and meaningful impact.

Sieun Hwang

President

Hello, I’m Sieun Hwang, serving as the President of the Boise Chapter.

My goal is to access to education should not depend on where someone is born or their circumstances.

At Boise Chapter, I’ve worked with our members to support refugee students through mentoring and workshops, while also helping build initiatives like fundraising projects and our offline digital library. Seeing how small efforts can open doors for others has been the most meaningful part of my experience.

Outside of teaching, I’ve been involved in local service efforts- from collecting and donating hygiene items and supporting refugee events to volunteering with food banks and environmental projects. These experiences have shaped how I view leadership- not just as guiding others, but as taking responsibility and staying consistent in service.

As president, my goal is to create an environment where members feel motivated to take action and grow through what they do. I hope our work continues to expand opportunities and make a tangible difference in our community and beyond.
